Joint
Reserve Components
U.S.
Joint Forces Command is headquartered in Norfolk, Va.,
with working locations in the Hampton Roads Area, specifically
Norfolk, Suffolk and Ft. Monroe. U.S. Army, Navy, Marine
Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard Reserve and Army and Air
National Guard Reserve component elements augment and
extend capabilities of the command's roles in transformation,
experimentation, joint training, interoperability and
force
provision as outlined in the Department of Defense's
Unified Command Plan.
The
Joint Reserve team is made up of the Joint Reserve Directorate
(JRD) and Joint Reserve Unit (JRU), who work side-by-side
with their active counterparts, playing an important role
in supporting U.S. Joint Forces Command's mission of leading
the transformation of the U.S. armed forces.
Both
the JRD and JRU assist in supporting the USJFCOM mission
area of developing future concepts for joint warfighting.
Other key mission areas include joint experimentation, joint
training and providing U.S.-based forces and capabilities
to support other combatant commander and domestic requirements.
Members
of the reserve component further assist in developing warfighting
concepts and the execution of joint experiments
to enable the development of those concepts - developing
requirements to turn proven concepts into reality. More critically,
reserve members also assist in the synchronization of concept
development and experimentation work in the Department of
Defense.
The
joint reserve team exists to support USJFCOM's mission
to serve the joint warfighter.
