SOCJFCOM transitions, becomes SOC-JC

SOCJFCOM transitions to USSOCOM and becomes Special Operations Command – Joint Capabilities

(NORFOLK, Va., May 2, 2011) – Special Operations Command – Joint Forces Command (SOCJFCOM) transitioned from U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) to U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Friday as part of the continuing effort to realign functions in the wake of USJFCOM’s disestablishment.

SOCJFCOM became Special Operations Command – Joint Capabilities (SOC-JC).

"We will continue to serve as DoD's primary joint special operations forces trainer and integrator," said Air Force Col. David Mullins, SOC-JC's commander. "The new organization will continue to support the warfighter as it has in the past; however, with disestablishment of USJFCOM, it makes sense from a command and control perspective to have this organization report directly to USSOCOM headquarters in Tampa."

SOCJFCOM trained conventional and special operations joint force commanders and their staffs, focusing on the full integration of SOF and conventional forces in both planning and execution to enhance warfighting readiness.

SOC-JC will remain in Suffolk, Va., for the foreseeable future.  As a sub-unified command of USSOCOM, the commander of SOC-JC will report directly to Commander, USSOCOM.
