USJFCOM, Allied Command Transformation speakers announced for Joint Warfighting Conference

Leaders from U.S. Joint Forces Command and NATO's Allied Command Transformation will discuss what both commands are doing and how industry can assist during booth presentations at Joint Warfightng Conference 2010.

(NORFOLK, Va., - May 4, 2010) -- U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) announced  their representatives who will speak during the fourth annual Joint Warfighting Conference May 11 - 13 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

For the first time, USJFCOM and ACT will make presentations together to share information with industry representatives about what both commands are doing and how industry can assist.

Speaking May 11 are:

  • Army Maj. Gen. Stephen Layfield, Joint Training Directorate/Joint Warfighting Center director, and Lt. Gen. Karlheinz Viereck, ACT Joint Force Trainer deputy chief of staff, on “Joint and Combined Training” from 10 a.m. to 10:30.
  • Navy Rear Adm. Lawrence S. Rice, Strategy and Policy Directorate director, and Brig. Gen. José A.F. Demaria, ACT Strategic Plans and Policy deputy chief of staff, on  “Future Challenges and Opportunities” from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • James O’Connell, Joint Irregular Warfare Center director, and Rear Adm. Christian Canova, ACT Capabilities Engineering assistant chief of staff, on “Hybrid Threats and Irregular Warfare” from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Air Force Maj. Gen. Kevin J. Kennedy, Joint Capability Development Directorate director, and James N. Soligan, ACT Capability Development deputy chief of staff, on “Joint and Multinational Capability Development” from 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
  • Navy Rear Adm. Dan W. Davenport, Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate director, and Rear Adm. Christian Canova, ACT Capabilities Engineering assistant chief of staff, on “Joint and Multinational Experimentation” from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Air Force Col. Jacqueline Walsh, Joint Intelligence Directorate deputy director, and Maj. Gen. Jaap Willemse, C4ISR/NATO Network Enabled Capability assistant chief of staff, on “Joint and Multinational Intelligence” from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Speaking May 12 are:

  • Army Brig. Gen. Anthony Crutchfield, Joint Center for Operational Analysis director, and Brig. Gen. Peter Sonneby, ACT Joint Analysis & Lessons Learned Centre commander, on “Joint and NATO Lessons Learned Integration” from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Air Force Col. Jacqueline Walsh, Joint Intelligence Directorate deputy director, and Maj. Gen. Jaap Willemse, C4ISR/NATO Network Enabled Capability assistant chief of staff, on “Joint and Multinational Intelligence” from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is hosted by USJFCOM, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the U.S. Naval Institute, National Defense Industrial Associations Greater Hampton Roads Chapter, and the local AFCEA Hampton Roads and Tidewater chapters.

This year’s theme is "Combatant and Coalition Commanders: What Will They Need Five Years From Now?" Panel discussions will explore this theme, also to be reflected in industry booths on the exhibit floor.
