Technology demonstration contract awarded A Falls Church, Va.-based company will provide support to a U.S. Joint Forces Command-managed technology demonstration program. By USJFCOM Public Affairs (SUFFOLK, Va. - March 24, 2009) -- The Computer Science Corporation, based in Falls Church, Va., has been awarded a contract to provide operational and technical support for joint capability technology demonstrations (JCTDs) managed by U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and its subordinate commands/components. The primary goal of the JCTD program is to demonstrate, operationally assess, rapidly deploy, and transition capability solutions and innovative concepts to address the joint, coalition and interagency operational gaps and shortfalls. The command currently manages nine of these demonstrations. The new contract replaces an existing contract, held by General Dynamics. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, cost-reimbursement contract will consist of a one-year base period with a ceiling of $1,592,013 with four additional option years. The total value of the contract if all options are exercised is more than $8 million and will go in to effect starting May 1, 2009. Headquartered in Norfolk, Va., USJFCOM is one of DoD's ten unified commands. Among his duties, the commander of USJFCOM oversees the command's roles in transformation, experimentation, joint training, interoperability and force provision as outlined in the Unified Command Plan. |
