Unified
Endeavor 08-1 prepares soldiers for Afghanistan deployment
U.S. Joint Forces Command begins the latest iteration
of the Unified Endeavor Mission Rehearsal Exercise series
to help
the Army’s 101st Airborne Division and other units get
ready for duty with Combined Joint Task Force-82 (CJTF-82)
and NATO ISAF Regional Command East in Afghanistan.

CAMPBELL, Ky. -- Oct. 1, 2007) – U.S. Joint
Forces Command (USJFCOM)’s Exercise Unified Endeavor
08-1 (UE 08-1) began here Sunday to train units scheduled
for assignment with the Combined Joint Task Force-82 (CJTF-82)
and NATO ISAF (International Security Assistance Force)
Regional Command East in Afghanistan.
The
exercise will take place simultaneously here as well
as Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., Hurlburt Field,
Fla., and the Joint Warfighting Center, Suffolk, Va.
and
involves military personnel from across the country as
well as multi-national partners. Designed as a mission
rehearsal exercise (MRX), the event will provide realistic
training scenarios for the participants involved and
prepare them to work in Afghanistan.
A
group of USJFCOM and observer/trainers
will help with the MRX and make sure that the participants
accomplish the training objectives.
UE
08-1 focuses on several areas of strategic importance
in the Afghan
theater including; integration and coordination
with
• the government of Afghanistan,
• the Afghan National Army and Security Forces
• counter narcotics operations
• detainee operations and
• disruption of enemy financial assets.
UE
08-1 will synchronize or simulate operations across the
entire network of participants to replicate the
current CJTF-88 and NATO ISAF Regional Command East battle rhythm.
Participating
units include the 101st Airborne Division, Air Combat
Command, the U.S. Army Forces Command
and NATO units, as well as individual augmentees from other
units
and foreign military partners.
The
exercise will wrap up Oct. 13.
