USJFCOM Public Affairs
(FORT
BRAGG, N.C. - Aug. 13, 2007) -- U.S. Joint Forces Command
(USJFCOM) will conduct Exercise Unified Endeavor
07-2 (UE 07-2) Aug. 13-24 to train units scheduled for
assignment with the Multi-National Corps Iraq (MNC-I) headquarters
staff.
The exercise will take place in multiple locations in
the United States and involve military personnel from across
the country as well as our multi-national partners.
Designed as a mission
rehearsal exercise, the event will
provide realistic training scenarios for the participants
involved and prepare them to work with the MNC-I. A group
of USJFCOM observer/trainers will help the participants
accomplish their the training objectives.
A new aspect to this iteration of Unified Endeavor is
the inclusion of Iraqi role players. Approximately a dozen
Iraqi nationals will serve as role players representing
the armed forces and government of Iraq.
"What we're trying to do is actually simulate the
environment that we'll be operating in Iraq," said
Army Maj. Lisa A. Garcia, XVIII Airborne Corps public affairs
officer. "So by having Iraqi role players, it's a
good training opportunity so we can experience the culture
while we're going through this training,"
The Iraqis will play multiple roles, including members
of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the
Iraqi military command structure, and the local police.
In addition to XVIII Airborne Corps, participating units
include Air Combat Command, U.S. Special Operations Command,
the U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Marine Corps Forces
Command, as well as individual augmentees from other units
and foreign military partners.
The exercise will take place simultaneously at Fort Bragg,
N.C., Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Davis-Monthan Air Force Base,
Ariz., Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Drum, N.Y., Marine Corps
Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Hurlburt Field, Fla., and
USJFCOM's Joint Warfighting
Center in Suffolk, Va.
