Facilitating
Industry Communications
Various command personnel will assist in moving information
to and from interested companies and academic organizations.
They include:
Office of Research and
Technology Applications (ORTA) Personnel: The ORTA Office is USJFCOM's focal point for industry and
academia engagement and partnership development. The office
personnel oversee engagements, and CRADA agreements between
USJFCOM and industry, academia, and other interested parties.
They also identify new technologies that will help fulfill
warfighter requirements.
Business
Management Officer (BMO): The BMO is responsible
for providing a formal, public process to exchange key capability
information between USJFCOM and industry for planning purposes
within Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) contracting guidelines.
Contract
Acquisition Management Office (CAMO): As the single
acquisition point of contact for guidance, compliance, and
interface with regional contracting organizations, the CAMO
provides policy, acquisition oversight and efficient contract
management support for USJFCOM.
Science
Advisor (SA): The role of the SA includes:
identifying joint warfighting technological needs;
pioneering new applications for existing technology;
and exploring disruptive technology to create new joint warfighting
capabilities.
Industry
Engagement Office (IEO): The IEO, is now part of
the Office of Research and Technology Applications (J02ORTA),
and continues to provide oversight of USJFCOM's industry
engagement campaign.
This mission is closely linked with the ORTA engagement
activities, which oversee the organization of various USJFCOM-unique
industry and academic engagement opportunities such as focused
forums, capability presentations and the annual USJFCOM industry
symposium.
Additionally, the IEO synchronizes engagement opportunities
with the command's mission and vision.
To help facilitate industry and academic partnerships with
USJFCOM, representative from these offices meet daily. They
collectively are known as the Technology Transfer Engagement
Team. They are set-up to review industry, academia, and lab
submissions to ensure visibility by the maximum potential
directorates, sub directorate commands and labs within USJFCOM.
Together they:
maximize joint perspective engagement opportunities;
minimize missed capabilities;
broadcast joint capability focus areas;
avoid duplication of research and development efforts;
and enhance partnership opportunities.
