Joint Operation Planning and Execution System Functional Managers Course (JOPES FM) The Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES) is the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) principal means for translating national security policy decisions into military plans and operations. JOPES Functional Managers grant permissions, restrict access to operation plans on the database, and perform periodic reviews of user IDs and the content of the JOPES database to ensure outdated plans and accounts are removed when no longer required. U.S. Joint Forces Command’s Joint Deployment Training Center’s (JDTC) JOPES Functional Managers (JOPES FM) course provides the solid foundation of knowledge and skills needed by current combatant command JOPES functional managers and component subordinate functional managers to support and effectively manage the JOPES database and its associated client/server information technology. Students receive hands-on training with the following tools: Students also receive an introduction to: JDTC’s JOPES FM course is essential for military or civilian personnel, who perform JOPES functional management duties, have a need-to-know requirement and the ability to access FM specific applications and information. Members of a combatant command, joint task force, or senior service headquarters are generally qualified to attend. JDTC’s FM course is a four-day certificate awarding course taught by JDTC at Fort Eustis, Va. The specialized nature of this course limits classes to once a quarter with a maximum class size of 10 students. A final U.S. Secret clearance is required to attend.
