Special Operations Command Joint Forces Command

Special Operations Command – Joint Forces Command (SOCJFCOM) is DoD’s primary joint special operations forces (SOF) trainer and integrator.  SOCJFCOM is the provider of Joint Special Operations Task Force Level I, II and III training to individuals and units, with additional training of both conventional and joint task force-level forces.

SOCJFCOM’s mission is to train conventional and special operations joint force commanders and their staffs in the employment of SOF, focusing on the full integration of SOF and conventional forces in both planning and execution to enhance warfighting readiness.

SOCJFCOM is a subordinate command of U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and is unique among all other theater special operations commands assigned.  The commander of SOCJFCOM serves as the senior SOF advisor to the USJFCOM commander.

Located in Suffolk, Va., SOCJFCOM’s key tasks include:

  • Training  conventional joint task force and geographic combatant commanders and their staffs
  • Training theater SOF and joint special operations task forces commanders and their staffs
  • Collecting and reporting operational insights and lessons learned
  • Provide non-force provider SOF support to USJFCOM Unified Command Plan mission areas
  • Facilitate USJFCOM-USSOCOM interaction and cooperation

SOCJFCOM has responsibilities to support Title X missions for both USJFCOM and USSOCOM, which makes the command ideally positioned to support SOF-conventional force training and integration. SOCJFCOM has been designated as the sole provider of joint SOF training.

SOCJFCOM established a SOF community of interest within USJFCOM, which further enhances cross-enterprise integration and communication.
