Joint
Forces Intelligence Command
As the Global War of Terror continues, real-time intelligence
collection, management, analysis, and dissemination remain
a Department of Defense (DoD) and USJFCOM priority.
The
Joint Forces Intelligence Command (JFIC), based in Norfolk,
Va., supports USJFCOM’s intelligence needs
by delivers innovative, relevant joint operational intelligence
capabilities to the combatant command.
JFIC
touches every aspect of USJFCOM’s mission of
leading the transformation of the U.S. military by providing
intelligence capabilities that are incorporated into joint
force training, concept development and experimentation
and joint integration and interoperability.
Among its many functions, JFIC:
Creates
a joint intelligence environment for experimentation,
training, and operations.
Explores
and evaluates new intelligence analysis concepts, techniques,
and networks.
Integrates
intelligence concepts and enablers for prototypes such
as the standing joint force headquarters
(SJFHQ).
Supports
joint force training through the Regional Joint Intelligence
Training Facility (RJITF). The RJITF
ensures USJFCOM and component command intelligence personnel
are trained to integrate and apply joint intelligence core
skills and systems applications in support of contingency
operations.
Serves
as the test site for intelligence products and tools.
JFIC performs these tests, in conjunction with
program management offices, to aid the intelligence community
and its efforts to field leading edge technology that ultimately
supports the warfighter. These tests ensure DoD, national,
and allied security and interoperability requirements are
satisfied.
Operationalizes
lessons learned including: the Global War on Terror,
Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation
Enduring Freedom. JFIC specifically focuses on improving
how joint operational intelligence conducts targeting,
bomb damage assessment, collection management, human intelligence,
analysis, production, and dissemination.
Works
on joint intelligence planning concept development. USJFCOM
intelligence directorate (J2) and
JFIC are exploring concepts related to persistent/agile
collection capabilities and processes; regional combatant
command adaptable intelligence analysis processes and products,
information sharing, and intelligence support to effects-based
operations.
Conducts
efforts with USJFCOM J2, in partnership with the director
of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (USD-I) to
bridge operations and intelligence, providing processes,
systems and tools to create a coherent, joint operational
intelligence capability, environment and transformation
culture.
