Joint Deployment Training
Center
The
U.S. Joint Forces Command's (USJFCOM) Joint Deployment
Training Center (JDTC) serves as DoD's "center of
excellence" developing and delivering standardized
education curricula for joint deployment planning and execution
processes and functional training for Global Command and
Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) applications to include
Joint Operation Planning and Execution Systems (JOPES)
and Situational Awareness (Common Operational Picture (COP)
and Integrated Imagery and Intelligence (I3).
JDTC training provides combatant commands (COCOMs), services,
DoD agencies and professional military education (PME) institutions
personnel the skills and knowledge required to more effectively
plan and execute joint operations and mission tasks. The
certified joint courses offered by the JDTC, award points
towards designation as a joint qualified officer.
Based at Fort Eustis, Va., the JDTC has four secure classrooms
to provide the joint community computer application and web-based
training, conducted via resident instruction and provides
mobile training teams to COCOMs, services, DoD agencies,
and PMEs. Additionally, the JDTC provides distributed learning
(DL) products via the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network
(SIPRNET).
DL products are accessed via the JDTC's secure web page
and will soon be available on the Joint Knowledge Development & Distribution
Capability’s Joint Knowledge Online (JKO). DL training
supports classroom training and provides a means to keep
skills current by using refresher training lessons.
In 1984, the JDTC began as the Airlift Concepts and Requirements
Agency (ACRA) at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., whose mission
was to encompass mobility issues for all modes of transportation.
ACRA was re-designated as the Mobility Concepts Agency (MCA)
in 1994 in concert with its move to Fort Monroe, Va. In 1997,
the MCA was re-designated as the Joint Deployment Training
Center (JDTC) and relocated to Fort Eustis, Va.
The JOPES Training Organization (JTO), established in 1989,
was designated as the single functional training manager
for JOPES and other planning and execution related applications.
With the relocation, co-location and integration of the JTO
from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., in 1999, the JDTC achieved
its current operational configuration.
JDTC remained a field operating activity under the U.S.
Transportation Command before being transferred to USJFCOM
in 2004.
