U.S.
Army Forces Command
FORSCOM
is the Army Component Command of U.S Joint Forces Command.
USJFCOM's mission is to provide U.S. military forces
where needed throughout the world and to ensure they
are integrated and trained as unified forces ready
for any assigned task.
Headquartered
at Fort McPherson, US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM)
serves as the Army's chief operator. FORSCOM
commands Active Component and U.S. Army Reserve forces
in the continental United States, Virgin Islands and
Puerto Rico, and performs training readiness oversight
of all National Guard formations.
Following
mobilization, FORSCOM assumes command and control of
Army National
Guard and U.S. Army Reserve units preparing
for deployment.
U.S.
Army Forces Command trains, mobilizes, deploys, sustains,
transforms, and reconstitutes conventional
forces, providing relevant and ready land power to combatant
commanders world wide in defense of the nation both at
home and abroad.
Combining more than 2,200 civilians with 740,000 soldiers
from the Active Army, Army Reserve and the Army National
Guard, FORSCOM provides combat-ready units and soldiers
to combatant commanders worldwide for operations such
as theater engagement, peacekeeping, combating terrorism,
ensuring they are ready to fight and win on today's complex
battlefield.
Commanding
the two combat training centers at Fort Polk, La.,
and Fort Irwin, Calif., as well as multiple power generation
and power generation support platforms, FORSCOM replicates
conditions in theaters of operation for every deploying
unit, including those with missions in Southwest Asia,
the Balkans, and the Sinai.
As
an Army major command, FORSCOM is the Army's premiere
collective trainer, establishing training requirements,
providing training support and oversight, and evaluating
the training of active component, Army National Guard,
and U.S. Army Reserve units. The FORSCOM mantra is "Trained
and Ready Soldiers.
As the headquarters for active and reserve component
units stationed in CONUS, FORSCOM serves as the proponent
for transforming the formations of the total Army, ensuring
that, in the end state, all units regardless of component
are equipped on par, fulfilling the CSA's vision of a
campaign quality, modular force with a Joint and Expeditionary
mindset.
Army
Force Generation (ARFORGEN):
FORSCOM
is leading the development and implementation of the Army
Force Generation process. ARFORGEN synchronizes
people, equipment, and training to create combat ready
forces. Units move through three force pools (reset/train,
ready and available), focused on the unit's mission and
proposed employment dates. The process culminates with
trained and ready forces for the regional combatant commanders
and civil authorities. ARFORGEN is a sustainable process
of systems which leads to expeditionary force packages,
tailored to specific mission requirements and capable
of fulfilling both programmed requirements and surging
immediate requests for forces.
