Combat Command
Air Combat Command, headquartered at Langley
Air Force Base, Va. is the U.S. Air Force component of
the U.S. Joint Forces Command.
ACC organizes, trains, equips and maintains combat-ready
air forces for rapid deployment and employment. It also
ensures strategic air defense forces are ready to meet
the challenges of peacetime air sovereignty and wartime
defense.

Command, air defense forces to the North American Aerospace
Defense Command and theater air forces to the five geographical
unified commands: U.S. Joint Forces Command, U.S. Central
Command, U.S. Southern Command, U.S. European Command
and U.S. Pacific Command. ACC also ensure combat air
forces are prepared to implement national policy throughout
the world.
Four numbered air forces and three primary subordinate
units fall under ACC. The numbered air forces are 1st
Air Force, 8th Air Force, 9th Air Force and 12th Air
Force. The direct reporting units are the U.S. Air Force
Warfare Center, located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.,
the Air Intelligence Agency, located at Lackland Air
Force Base, Texas., and the Air and Space Expeditionary
Force Center, located at Langley.
ACC is comprised of 700 aircraft and approximately 105,000
active duty military members and civilian personnel at
29 installations in the United States. When mobilized,
more than 61,000 Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve
members, along with 618 aircraft are assigned to ACC.
